An August 9th showing of "War Made Easy", the critically acclaimed
documentary produced by the Media Education Foundation,
narrated by Sean Penn and featuring Norman Soloman will begin a kickoff
promotion for "Peace Island Picnic" (one of the "UnConvention" projects
being organized for Sept 4th on Harriet Island by Coleen and Ross
Rowley).

All members of the Twin Cities Peace Community and other citizens
concerned about the broader issues of social, civic and environmental
justice (that seem to be sacrificed or trade-offs in the so-called
endless "War on Terror") are invited to attend a showing of this
insightful movie at 10:30 a.m. at the Riverview Theatre in Minneapolis
on Saturday, August 9th. "War Made Easy" provides unique insights
about the Vietnam War and the war in Iraq, setting government spin and
media collusion from the present alongside virtually identical patterns
from the past. The movie showing will serve as a fundraiser for the
"Peace Island Picnic" but is also being planned to allow all organizers
of other "UnConvention" projects as well as the various peace marches
(including the "March on the RNC" and "Liberty Parade"), concert rallies
and conferences (notably the "Peace Island Conference" at Concordia Sept
2-3) to provide information about all the various events underway during
the first week of September when national attention will focus on the
Twin Cities due to the RNC being held in St. Paul.

Charitable donations of $10 are requested but any amount is welcome.
Donations are tax deductible to the full extent of the law (although no
one will be turned away). Checks can be made payable to "Intermedia
Arts" which is a 501 C-3 organization acting as the fiscal sponsor for
the "Peace Island Picnic". The "Peace Island Picnic" is a non-partisan,
non-profit event.
